Do I really need a tutor?
Trying to get good grades in college can be very challenging. Help from professors and fellow students can be very difficult to come by. Finding a good college tutor with years of experience will provide you with the personalized attention you need to help you understand and master your course material.
What is your availability like?
As a full-time college tutor, I am available for sessions Sunday through Thursday, 10am to 10pm. I am also always available via phone or text message to my students to answer a quick question at no extra charge!
How long is each session?
I usually meet with my students for one or two hours per session, once or twice per week. If our session must go longer to cover the material, I recommend taking a short break about halfway through the session.
How soon should I contact you for a session?
My schedule fills up very quickly, so it is usually necessary to contact me at least three days in advance to schedule a session. Please try not to wait until the day before a major exam to contact me!
Are there a minimum number of sessions for which I have to commit?
No. I do not require my students to form any long-term contracts; however, I strongly recommend at least three sessions in order to really see progress and become comfortable with each other and the course materials.
What are your rates?
I charge an hourly rate of $40 to $50 per hour, and that rate can vary depending on your specific academic situation, courses requested, learning disabilities, and financial situation. Contact me for more information!
How do I pay for each session?
I require payment at the end of each session in cash. No personal checks please!
Do I have to be taking a college course to receive tutoring?
Usually yes. I am available to help you work through a college course's material, complete with a syllabus, assignments, exams, and specific due dates. I typically do not offer independent studies. However, I may provide independent directed studies in certain subjects upon request. Contact me for more details!
Do you provide any materials for our tutoring session?
Yes. I will bring notebooks, pencils, a graphing calculator, a laptop, and textbooks as needed to complement your course materials. However, I strongly recommend that you bring your textbook, syllabus, notebook paper, pencils, graphing calculator, and laptop as necessary too.
Do you offer group tutoring sessions?
Sometimes. I generally provide one-on-one tutoring to ensure that each session is very efficient and focuses on your particular needs.
If I am not in the Boston area, can you still provide tutoring?
Generally I meet with students in the Boston area only; however, in some situations, I may be available for remote tutoring via Skype. Contact me for more information!
